What is low impedance?
The output from most electronic devices in an audio system will be of low impedance in nature, usually 150 Ohms or less. However, the output from many passive devices, such as a high impedance microphone or passive guitar pickup can have much greater output impedance.
Why input impedance should be high and output impedance should be low?
The answer is the high input impedance is good for the amplifier circuit to have a good amplification of the input signal other wise we get low voltage in, so low amplification. To get all the voltage from a source to a target without loss. you need high input impedance.
What happens if speaker impedance is too low?
Too many speakers on a solid state amp can burn up the power output section. Too low an impedance will result in weak output and poor tone. If the speaker impedance is higher than that of the amplifier, its power output will again be less than it is capable of.
Is lower ohms better for subs?
A larger Ohm rating equals a greater load impedance. A higher impedance load will result in less amplifier output for that impedance, for example an amplifier will output more power at 2 ohms than at 4 ohms. Amps can generally be safely wired at 4 or 2 ohms and some even at 1 ohm depending on their design.
Whats better 2ohm or 4ohm?
The 4ohm subwoofer produces a softer sound as compared to the 2ohm subwoofer that produces louder sound having the same wattage. The other reason as to why most people consider buying the 4ohm subwoofer is that it has higher electrical resistance while the 2ohm subwoofer has a lower electrical resistance.
Is 4 or 8 ohms better?
4 Ohm Vs. 8 Ohm. A 4-ohm speaker requires more power from an amplifier than an 8-ohm speaker to produce the same loudness of sound. Power is a combination of voltage and current, so to provide more current to the speaker, an amplifier must have a higher power rating.
What's the difference between 4 ohms and 8 ohms?
Ohm is a measurement of resistance. The lower the number the less resistance. Most likely you car audio head unit or amplifier is going to be designed for 4 ohm speakers, but its OK to use an 8 ohm speaker on them. But 8 ohm speakers on a 4 ohm system only need to be rated at half the output power of the amp.
