Before introducing Multilayer PCB Standard Thickness, let me talk about 2 important PCB stacking concepts
Multilayer PCB the main material: Prepreg and Core
The difference between Prepreg and Core:
1. Prepreg is a material in PCB. The former is semi-solid, similar to cardboard, and the latter is hard, similar to copper;
2. Prepreg is similar to adhesive + insulator; Core is the basic material of PCB, the two are completely different functions;
3. Prepreg can curl but the Core cannot bend;
4. Prepreg is not conductive, and the core has copper layers on both sides, which is the conductive medium of the printed board.
The following table represents a standard multi-layer PCB stack. The final thickness of all typical PCBs listed below is 0.62 inches ± 10%, the copper weight is 1 ounce, and the unit of measurement is in inches.
